Long Lost Cousins in Subic

Thursday, I received a message from my cousin inviting me to come with them to Subic.

I automatically said yes. This will be my chance to meet them. After 24 years, I will finally meet them. We never had the chance to see each other. They were seamen so they are always out of the country.

This time, we are all going to Subic (Olongapo)

We never actually planned to take the SCTEX route. One of my cousins made a wrong turn so we were all headed to Subic Freeport Zone. Although, we wasted a lot of time driving, getting lost and getting caught by a traffic enforcer 4 times, I tried to enjoy the moment.
And tadah--time to meet my cousins!

LOL.

Finally, we arrived to our destination. Not quite impressive compared to the beaches I have been to before. I see ships everywhere.

And if there are ships, there's oil spill.. very sad :(

I love this pic. Baby simon was afraid at first to be left in the water.

After a while, he enjoyed taking a splash by himself.

There are few floating restaurants,

better-looking resorts in Subic, Olongapo like White rock resort.

This is also one of my favorite shot. We had a banca tour hoping to see snake island. Yes, we did see the island, but uhm.. not worth the 600 bucks we paid.

This is what they call white castle. It's in the middle of the 'sea'

Sigh, and i guess this is the best shot I had.

I want to go back to Subic and I want to try Zoobic safari and swim with the dolphins. Maybe on my birthday. I better start saving!

i love you anyway

friday night

did my chores so im free from my laundry and housecleaning ritual for the whole weekend.

saturday

i need to finish reading the modules for my ITC exam this March. damn, my february weekend will be booked with this kind of routine: chores-read module-sleep

i tried to convince j to go out with me saturday night so i can have my nose stuck on those boring modules the whole day of Sunday.

but he said, he has a surprise for me. so i decided ill just bring the module to his place

sunday

while at his place, i asked him what his surprise was. and...

charan... a dvd (pirated dibidi) of Boyzone's concert. awww...sweet! I know it's a bit embarrassing for him rummaging through fake dibidis in stalls looking for a boyband concert cd, im still kileg.

So we watched the concert together although he laughed at Steve because he's gay and laughed at Keith's dance move, i didn't care. I'm still ethereally happy watching my boyz sing and groove. I missed them soo much!

"pag gwapo, secret admirer. pag panget, stalker"

-desperadas

teehee..so true

Boyzone is soo back!

OH EHM GEE.. ill start saving money so i can buy the ticket!

A MYXclusive interview with Boyzone

Boyzone ruled the pop charts in Asia and Europe with their covers and original songs during the 90s teen pop era. But in 2000, the Irish quintet suddenly parted ways while lead singer Ronan Keating went on to pursue a solo career.

8 years later, the Irish lads announce their reunion with the greatest hits collection “Back Again… No Matter What”. MYX met up with the guys from Boyzone in Taiwan except for Mikey who was unable to make the trip. Here’s part of our MYXCLUSIVE chat with Keith, Shane, Stephen, and Ronan.

MYX: How does it feel to be back in Asia?
Ronan: It’s fantastic to be back! We love coming out to Asia. We have so many great memories from the touring to the promotional side of things. It’s the trip we always look forward to and all year we’ve been talking about this trip. We’re excited to be back and excited that everybody wants us back.

MYX: Why did you decide to part ways before?
Keith: We were on the road constantly from the time that we became successful. We were touring all over Europe, Southeast Asia, Australia, South America. It was non-stop, go go go go! I think what happens is when you become so tired, your mind becomes kind of cloudy and you don’t make the right decision and you become unprofessional. Everybody deserves to get 100% and if we can’t provide that then it’s time to take a break, recharge the batteries and see where we go from there. The break was only supposed to be for a year. That year grew into two years, into three years...

MYX: How did the whole reunion come about?
Shane: One of the main factors was the TV show called Children in Need which is a charity-based show. Obviously if you’re gonna do something, do it for a good reason. And this was the perfect reason for Boyzone to make the big effort because it wasn’t for us. It was for somebody else. So we made that big effort. We spent time together rehearsing the songs again. And in doing so, we had a phenomenal time together. It was clear then and there to keep it up, keep it moving.

MYX: Tell us about your new single “Love You Anyway”
Stephen: We waited a long time before we found a song that was right. Once we released the first single, we needed it to be perfect. We had lots of different songs come in but we kept on saying “No, it wasn’t right.” Then this song came in and we just said “This is it! This is the single.” We didn’t want to come out with a ballad because people were gonna expect that.

MYX: Any message for your Filipino fans?
Ronan: Thanks a million for everything you’ve done for Boyzone. Thanks for having us back and giving us this second opportunity. We’ll see you soon in Manila, please God, on tour next year!

Sagada Misadventure Part II

i missed sagada. and i am happy to be back here.

we arrived after lunch and checked in at St Joseph's Inn

we rented a cabin with two floors. it has two rooms on the first and a beautiful attic-like second floor with 2 large beds. i definitely love our cabin!

we were all so hungry so we huried to st joseph's restau and ate our late lunch. in sagada, we did nothing but eat...
... and eat.
This was our dinner in Masferre. Masferre is actually the father of Philippine photography.
sagada is abundant with different kinds of flora. and they have their own national flower-sunflower. i've never seen a sunflower so large - larger than the size of my face
After waiting for the drizzle to stop, I photographed the most photographed church - the St. Mary Episcopal church.

unfortunately, the church was closed. so i just took this picture behind the door.

one must enjoy a leasurely walk in sagada. just look at the beautiful road leading to sumaguing cave.

If you plan for a caving adventure, make sure to book a guide in the municipal hall.

This is my buena mano pic inside the cave. This is a proof that nature does have a gender. :D

I was too scared to do rapelling. Thank goodness, our guide was a good teacher. He gave us useful pointers in conquering the cave - like a wet white stone is slippery and which rock to hold and which foot to use.

this is the most majestic spot in the cave (as far as we have reached)

The cave has different chambers but it takes a 'pro' caveman to do it, and some parts are closed from tourists like the crystal chamber.

After coming out from the cave, we satisfied ourself with the yummiest pancit in Caveman Restaurant just infront the Big Cave.

Full and tired, we headed to Lake Danum. It's better if you go to this lake during sunset. But I'm sure I will still see the sunset here. This is where I'm going to get married! I never knew how love at first sight feels until i saw this lake.

We spend some time marvelling at the lake then we headed back to town.

Below is a picture i took in Echo Valley. They were my sagada boyfriends.. just kidding.

Since I found a new boyfriend, I jumped with glee.

But I fell from the cliff and died. so they buried me here.

if the mountains in leyte are covered with coconut trees, in sagada, mountains are canopied with pine trees.

After a long walk, we had dinner in the coziest place in sagada - Log Cabin. We reserved a table and ordered our food in advance.

I sooo enjoyed the food here. Baked eggplant in tomato sauce and cheese is a must-try!

Also the pork chop. After dinner, I had coffee and then told my breakup story with one of my trav buddy. hehe

We went back to our cabin and there we rested in peace.. haha

And the next day, we left sagada :(

Sagada Misadventure Part I

Here's the going part

I had no plans of joining this trip but the newly-changed-status-from-in a relationship-to-single girl inside me insists that I enjoy the mountain trip retreat.

I packed my stuff for 10 minutes and another 5 minutes for a meeting with doro to clear my tummy.

Kuya B, our very generous benefactor paid for the entire trip. My only expense was the trip back from baguio to manila because i went home a day ahead of them.

Kuya B decided to sleep over at La Parilla Hotel in Cabanatuan, Nueva Ecija and continue with the driving the next morning. It was a good choice. I never realized that is more fun to travel in the morning and enjoy the scenery.

We had breakfast along the way in a restaurant called Zigzag restaurant but unfortunately the baboy rama tapa was not available.

After 4 hours, I was back in Banaue.

We had brunch in Banaue Youth Hostel where we enjoyed eating sweet bread and pancit while our breath were taken away by the view

While waiting for our food, I took pictures of the beautiful flowers surrounding Mt. Province.

Luckily, we passed along the 3 Banaue viewpoints which my roomie and I purposely didn't see the last time we were there (coz we were tired already).

And yes, Dayanara Torres, former Miss Universe and wife of singer, Mark Anthony, was there so they called it Dianarra Vewpoint

The view still left me in awe.

After another 2 hour-bumpy ride, we arrived in Bontoc. And they also have their own rice terraces.

Enough with the terraces (although i enjoyed looking at them).

An hour later, we were in SAGADA!!!
